4 Port Polarization Maintaining Circulator
Optic circulator is a special component that possesses the capability of bidirectional transmission through a single fiber. It is often combined with fiber gratings and other reflective components for use in dense wavelength division multiplexing systems, bidirectional communication systems, dispersion compensation, EDFA applications, and optical time domain reflectometry (OTDR) technology measurements.
The core operating principle of the 4-port circulator is based on the Faraday magneto-optic effect.
Internally, it utilizes a combination of a Faraday rotator and a birefringent crystal to break the reciprocity of optical transmission.
Unidirectional transmission mechanism: Optical signals input from any port can only be output from the next port in sequence (e.g., port 1 in and port 2 out), while reverse transmission is blocked by high isolation.
Non-reciprocity: This characteristic enables it to simultaneously process transmitting and receiving signals in the same optical fiber without interference, greatly saving fiber resources.
