We Are Off For Dragon Boat Festival Next Monday

Hi all,

     As Dragon Boat Festival is coming, we warmly announce that the whole Optico family will have one day off on June.10th. All work shall resume on Tuesday.

  Dragon Boat Festival, also called Loong Boat Festival, is a traditional festival as well as legal holiday in our country, which has a history of more than 2000 years. It's on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month every year, with the original intention of commemorating our patriotic ancestor Qu Yuan. Below I would like to share some cultural activities of Dragon Boat Festival.

1. Eat Zong on the festival

  Zong was originally used as a tribute for worshipping gods and ancestors on the Dragon Boat Festival; But soon after, it was officially designated as the food for the Dragon Boat Festival. It's one of the traditional foods with historical and cultural heritage in China.

2. Hanging Chinese mugwort

  Hanging Chinese mugwort to ward off evil spirits and avoid harm, and pray for peace.

on the Dragon Boat Festival, We Chinese usually tie it up with a red rope and hang it at the door or in the room to pray for health and safety.

3. Dragon Boat Racing

  Dragon Boat racing is one of the customs of the Festival. Its origin can be traced back to the Warring States period. Dragon Boat Race has been introduced to neighboring Japan, Vietnam and the United Kingdom, which is the official event of the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.
